Review Show

On Monday's at 10pm EST we will go live to review music.  Our goal is to offer constructive feedback and help promote new music and artists.  Submissions to review@werebel.org

BTS clips

Were developing short form clips from artist interviews that fade up into the song they are describing.  This is to provide listeners with small insights into songs and provide artists a platform to help people get closer to their music.

Group Promotion

Justin from Morningstar Media mentioned coordinating posts across artists with the idea that posting together at the same time will generate greater results for everyone.

Sosah The Prince - Wraith

We are planning to test this Group Promotion for the new single Sosah is releasing, "Wraith".  This song has not yet available on spotify, tiktok or instagram.  Once the song is available on all platforms we will coordinate to promote the song together.

Group Promotion How To

1) We will make a short snippet available on google drive for you to download

2) Open your Instagram or TikTok and post the snippet you downloaded from google drive

3) add the song: Wraith - Sosah The Prince as audio

4) Post to your page, tag @SosahThePrince #SosahThePrince #Wraith

Why are we doing this?

The goal here is to get listeners to add the track we are promoting to one of their personal playlists on Spotify, Apple Music or their preferred streaming platform.  When people add an artist to one of their own playlists it grows that artists monthly active listeners, streams and ultimately their earnings.

If you are not comfortable posting this to your page, that is fine.  However if you are comfortable...please speak up and make it known that you are promoting the song.

I understand that this is not a technological solution, or perfectly aligned with the platform we are developing, however it does align with our overarching goal to help artists make a living from their music.  Helping artists develop a community that promotes their work is a simple way we can impact their earnings immediately.  The features we are adding to the Rebel Player are designed to help artists do this.

Rebel Player

We discussed the need for artists to form meaningful relationships between each other not only for collaboration, but for promotion.  Ideas for the rebel player are as follows:

1) Each artist will have 3 songs that they can make available for "Rebel Radio". The rest of their catalog can be streamed from the artists page.

2) Each song page can reference the people who contributed to the song.  This is essentially an expanded version of the information contained at BMI/ascap.

3) Each song page can reference the songs or the music that served as inspiration for that song if any.

4) Artists can add their location to our map so that collaborators and listeners have an idea of where the artist is located so that they can collaborate in person, or catch a live show.

5) Communities.  The idea here is to establish a hierarchical structure of users inside the rebel player.  This is so artists and listeners that have achieved certain milestones are able to easily identify each other and form into groups for collaboration & promotion together.

Importance of understanding your business

Beth made clear the point of an artist first identifying why they are doing what they are doing, what they represent and how best are they going to represent themselves to the world.  Doing this before any promotion or marketing is essential.  The Brand Is The Artist.

Justice made point that it is important that we identify the obstacles that the current music landscape presents for artists to develop the tools, features and technology to best help artists overcome those obstacles.

Thank you for joining us, these discussions are extremely helpful for us to develop.  I am grateful for everyone who joined, and for everyone that didn't, but has read this far in the email.

Please feel free to reach out to me for anything.

Best regards,

Justin Kerr
