Presentation

Today we discussed the rebel platform and got some amazing feedback.

Artists typically want to do 3 things...

1) Protect their music

2) Get people to listen to their music

3) Make money from their music

so, the first things we are doing are...

1) Provide a secure location for an artist's intellectual property rights.

2) Limit the amount of music on our player, so songs get listened to more.

3) Create communities and allow artists to charge for access to their community.

Rebel is a starting point where artists can:

  • Obtain ISRC registration codes

  • Register their music with ALL royalty collection societies.

  • Create a community.

  • Charge for access to their community.

  • Distribute music to all major DSPs.

  • Analyze all their streaming and royalty results in one place.

Backend

Our backend is being created based on the registration information required by:

ascap, BMI - Performance royalties

SoundExchange - Digital Performance royalties

theMLC - Mechanical royalties

Prototype / Beta version

At the end of this month we will have a working prototype, and we need feedback.  When artists record and collect their intellectual property in one place at lot of interesting things can happen.

Artists Advance

If a group of artists were to provide their performance data across all DSPs, investors could analyze this data and make investment decisions.  This would make selecting which songs to invest in similar to how people select which stocks to invest in.

Fixed Return Music Investment

An Example Contract...

1) An investor would pay an artist upfront $10,000

2) The investor would receive a song's royalty income until it earns $15,000

3) The rights and royalties would revert back to the artist.

This process then could then be repeated.

By centralizing royalty payments and rights information, a lot of interesting things become possible.  As we progress we will need to explore how to structure things like this for artists.  A new version of an artist's advance.  In the meantime, we will keep our focus on getting the foundation right.  As we create we will share.

Thank you for participating, these discussions are critical to the evolution of what we are doing together.
