Key Points

NFT NYC

We will be going to as many NFT NYC events as we can.  There is a spreadsheet link below of the events.  Please reply to this email with any events you are going to attend.

Music Managers Forum

I attended an event hosted by the Music Managers Forum at Heaven Can Wait.  It was full to the walls with musicians, managers, booking agents, generally music business people who are looking to help artists.  I strongly recommend that we pay attention to what they are doing and attend their events. https://www.mmfus.com/application

Heaven Can Wait

This is an amazing small venue.  Beautiful sound, easy to fill.  It would be a great place to host an event or play.  Check out their website, but this is definitely a place for us to check out and start participating.  If anyone is connected to this venue please speak up. https://heavencanwaitnyc.com/

Rebel Platform

1) Listening Communities - Each community has a music player and a message board.  The community owners set the playlist and moderate the message board.  These can be public or private and we are working towards allowing artists to charge to join their community

2) Protection - The platform provides an artist to upload all their royalty registration information and distribute it to the major royalty collection societies, SoundExchange, theMLC, ascap, and BMI.  They can also request their own ISRC code directly from within the platform.  This allows artists to protect their music by registering it before it is released for Distribution

3) Promotion - The platform can serve as a distributor for the artist. The idea is to have a two tier system.  One that includes label services and one that is bare bones.

Professional Label Services - This tier would include things like promotional placements, playlisting, sync pitching, sample clearance, Consolidation of YouTube topic channel with the artists main channel.  The fee for this tier would be a percentage of the artist's royalties.

Bare Bones - This tier would include distribution to DSPs onlyThe idea right now is to charge a small flat fee per track distributed.  The fee for this tier would be a small flat fee per track distributed.

Under both tiers the artists would continue to own 100% of their rights.

We will start testing the platform soon, so stay tuned.

New Ideas

We discussed the additional features we could offer next on the rebel platform

Sync Licensing Section - The idea is to allow artists to list their music as available for sync.  They can provide the rate they are looking for and we can open up the section to sync partners to explore.  Our platform makes this simple because the artist is including all of their songs registration information.  This makes it easy for potential sync licesors to identify the cost of sync, who they are working with and license the work directly through the platform.

Linked-In for Music - This emerged out of the sync licesing idea as a sort of next level.  We would create tools for professional artists to connect with one another and with people looking to collaborate for projects.

Virtual Studio - The conversation naturally transitioned to utilizing a virtual studio.  Zoo mentioned ProTools Cloud Collaboration.  We could collaborate with Pro Tools to create premium communities that utilize this software within the Rebel Platform.  Something to think about.  See the more here https://www.avid.com/pro-tools/cloud-collaboration

It was a great meeting today.  We are working as fast as we can to implement and release the platform.

Best regards,

Justin Kerr
